Black Listed Companies

The Following companies should be avoided at any situation, we encourage our customers and visitors to stay away from:

PayPal

Paypal acts as an online bank, when you create an account your personal and financial information is in their hands and that proved to hurt too many people some got their personal information exploited and some got funds withdrawn directly from their account without authorization. paypal is also subject to massive phishing and avoiding a paypal account will solve trying to sort through fake paypal emails on a daily basis. STAY AWAY

Read about the PayPal Class Action Lawsuit with an extensive list of Questions and Answers. If you are searching for an alternative to PayPal, we strongly suggest acquiring a Real Merchant Account. CLICK HERE FOR OUR TOP PICK.

1. According to PayPal accepting their ToS (Terms of Service) in effect means you waive your rights to credit card consumer protection laws if you want to use their service, and that you may not issue a charge back for unauthorized use of your credit card and PayPal account, or if you do, then they have the right to limit your account. Is this legal? We don't know. But it's how Paypal operates.

2. Their customer service is horrible. They used to hide their telephone number, (intentionally - by their own admission) and only provided support via "form" emails:

"As for the customer service, Sollitto said they intentionally make the phone number very difficult to find in order to save costs."

This is confirmed in the book "PayPal Wars". If you have a problem, you are at their mercy! (And you will eventually have a problem.) The only reason their number can be found now is because they were forced to by law (EFTA Electronic Funds Transaction Act) due to complaints from users of this website.

3. Their terms of service are not completely disclosed upon signup and some key "conditions" are not disclosed. They fail to mention their total lack of security to prevent your account from being compromised by phishing & spoof sites. That if your account is accessed by a criminal using one of these methods, PayPal will hold YOU monetarily & legally responsible! Also, no place do they openly tell potential members that their money is 100% at risk. That PayPal can, will, and has in the past, completely cleaned out customers' accounts, (including your checking or savings account) with no appeals process available...

USPS

We witness stories all over the web accusing USPS (united states postal service) employees stealing packages on a regular basis in a very systematic way. the web is full of recent stories where people lost very valuable and pricless items even tracking and signature required paid in extra for the package to be delivered will just vanished out of thin air.

Regus/HQ

I started in business earlier this year, and decided to rent offices from Regus. Their adverts are so seductive - Your trusted partner etc. The thrust of their advertising is how they make it easy for you to start up a business as they take away the hassle of infrastructure. I was duped. In the 10 weeks that I have been in their offices the following have happened to me:

• Messages have been taken with the wrong phone numbers

• No messages taken - callers told to call back later

• Callers told to leave voicemails when my voicemail has been deactivated by Regus themselves

• No response when I have written to ask them to discuss my issues

• Rent deducted from my bank account twice and not refunded despite 6 requests by me for them to do so

• Documents not being printed for 3 days as the printer was broken

• Customer Service rep making an appointment and then not turning up at the appointed time

• Documents being bound in the wrong order

• The stationery cupboard was supplied broken and took 6 weeks for it to be repaired

• Documents printed with missing pages, extra pages and blank pages

• A mailshot promised for a certain time. Regus were made aware that staff were coming in to mail the letters and were thus dependant on the mail shot being ready. This made no difference to them. A small part of the mailshot was delivered 5 hours late, and then additional parts were drip fed to us. Half way through the process we realized that this mail shot had been duplicated and at this point we had no way of knowing what the duplicates were. The only response we had from Regus was that we were going to have to pay for the mess to be sorted out.

These are just some of the issues with which I have had to contend. None of these would have been a problem had Regus adopted an attitude of trying to work with us to resolve them. We all make mistakes, but to tell me, the client, that their (Regus') inadequacies were my fault was typical of the way that they have dealt with all issues. I have spoken to the office manager, who told me that she would not discuss anything with me, and I had to email her boss, whose name and details remain a mystery to me. A voicemail to the customer services rep received no reply. Several more emails eventually prompted a response with an invitation to call her - the number supplied registered as invalid. More emails and she agreed to see me, and then failed to show for the appointment. A letter to head office remains unanswered. And so I am unable to attract any attention from anyone at Regus who has a vague interest in providing any service for the money they so willingly take from my bank account. Were it not for the investment I have made in printed stationery and contact details, I would be looking for other serviced office space as we speak. It may well come to that, if Regus continues to harm my fledgling business.

I am aware that ecademy has a strong connection with Regus, so I challenge ecademy to post this blog. I wonder how many other ecademy small businesses have used the Regus service only to have their fingers burned.

BOA/Bank of America

Business in question :: Bank of America

I had a situation that was like one other I read here. I closed the account and checked the balance no checks out ect.. yet 6 months later they reported $256 onto my credit. It 1.46 plus a 240 late fee. The weird part is the fee was left over balance but I checked even after i closed the account and it was 0. I think they flat out ripped me off but I took it like a champ and did nothing.

Bank of America is the uncontested rip off leader in america. Just ask a friend and they will most likely of heard of a rip off or been ripped off by Bank of America.

This is a old story but none the less really messed up and 100% true.

I was nineteen and had a secured visa with them, I then got a better card and cancelled the card. I had a three hundred dollar reserve to pay the card and had 1298 dollar balance. When I closed the card the rep said that I would receive a 2 check for the difference. I was thinking two bucks who cares.

Well 6 months later I go to buy a new car and my credit report shows a $120 payment past due that is six months late! I call them pissed of and they said sorry you accrued $2.30 interest payment. I was over .30 and accrued a $20 late fee for 6 months. I of course refused to pay and well it grew to about $500 I then had to pay them to clean up me credit and still had it on my credit for 7 years.

I was screwed and am not surprised if they do this a lot, when I told the lady she prepared to say sorry we cannot help you. She never even asked a manager and when I finally insisted on the manger they said the same story that is my responsibility to check regardless of what I was told.

Bank of America sucks! don't use them...

Bank of America at least six months ago, I recently deposited a FLEET PAYROLL CHECK into my 'bank of america' account, and it took THREE DAYS to clear, bouncing my rent check. They return my check unpaid, **EVEN THOUGH THE FUNDS WERE IN THE ACCOUNT** and they had the audacity to charge me $35. This $35 resulted in my account being overdrawn by $1.26. I had three other checks bounce, for a total of $25.

THEY CHARGED ME $164 last month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When i spoke with a customer service rep on the phone she was RUDE and BELIGERENT. I went into the bank to close my account and none of the THREE people i spoke with tried to reconcile anything after hearing my story. Bank of America doesn't care about you unless you keep at least $3000 or more in your checking account as a daily balance.

Well, not only did they loose my business, they lost allot more! I'm a finance manager at an automotive dealership that sells over 250 cars a month. Needless to say, I won't be sending BOA and business!!!!!! loosing one customer, no biggie, but they will be loosing many customers. :-)

Complaint :: My paycheck is direct deposited into my account by PayChex. I was charged $61.00 in overdraft fees on August 18, 2005 for checks that posted. When I inquired I was told that they were posted to my account on the 19th between 12am-8am. I told them that my paycheck was posted on that day. They said that my paycheck was not to post on the 19th till 8pm. Basically, entered my checks in on the 18th even though they didn't post till the 19th and they held my paycheck for 12 hours so they could charge me the fees. I asked when my previous check(7/22/05 paycheck) had posted to my account and they said at midnight. They proceeded to tell me that my payroll company wouldn't let them deposit the check until the exact payday. Also things have a habit of showing up on my online banking as withdrawals and then several hours later are no longer there. Then they reappear a few days later. Now, I did a transfer and they took the money out on the 22nd but my other bank has no record of it and Bank of America says it hasn't been returned to them. They manipulate your account to make money by charging you fees. Also they charged me $19.00 overdraft fees one time and this time, it is now $31.00?????????

Complaint :: We had a car loan thru B of A. Our daughter totalled the car and our insurance company sent a check to B of A for payoff. The check was sent July 21 and wasn't posted on the account until August 11th. Seems that they held the check just to be able to charge more interest, in my opinion...I am going to write B of A a letter, and send a copy to the Federal Reserve Board.

Complaint :: Well I decided to open a checking account and savings at B of A. They told me my debit card would get home in 5-10 business days I have called several times since then and they say that they must have sent about 3 debit cards home yet I recieved none. This is very inconvienant because that means that i have to go to their branch to withdraw money between their hours or if not I am screwed. I don't think its right and someone is clearly not doing their job.

Complaint :: I had scheduled a payment for Sallie Mae to be taken out of my bank account. I tried to Stop Payment on this as I realized that I had input an incorrect date for it to be withdrawn. When I called Bank of America, they said that it would take 3 days to process and I would be charged a stop payment fee even if they could not stop the payment. When I viewed my balance on-line, every item that I had debited was already posted as cleared except for the Sallie Mae payment, so I figured that I would only have one insufficient fund fee. Well needless to say when I checked my balance the next day the Sallie Mae payment was posted and it was placed before the other items that were already posted the day before as being cleared, resulting in 6 insufficient fund charges in the amount of $204.00 (see attached document). When I emailed Bank of America on their website I received the following reply;

Dear Debra X. XXXXXX,

Thank you for your inquiry dated 9/12/05. We are committed to providing you with the best banking experience possible. Please be advised that we process all transactions together, highest to lowest according to amount. If funds are insufficient to cover all the items presented, this may enable us to pay more important items, such as mortgage payments.

For example, we process ATM withdrawals, automatic payments, Check Card purchases and personal checks from highest to lowest dollar amount. Based on our experience, we believe that many customers prefer that we place priority on their largest transactions when the balance in their account cannot cover all their transactions.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If we may be of further assistance, please contact us again by e-mail.

Thank you for choosing Bank of America.

Sincerely,

N. XXXXXX

Bank of America

I do not see how this is legal. The items that were already cleared should have stayed that way regardless of the amount. I replied to Bank of America that I would be posting my complaint anywhere that I could and that I would be closing my account.

Complaint :: Well yesterday (6-13-06)my checking account went into a negative balance of $19.72 so I went out and deposited $20 cash at the ATM in the evening time... This morning everything looked fine with the account when I logged on and now when I looked this evening I was charged with 2 insufficient charges at $35 a piece.. So now my account is in a negative balance of about $70. When I called customer service, the representative told me that I got charged because of the activity from yesterday and then I told her but ma'am I deposited $20 to cover the negative balance to prevent getting insufficient charges. I asked her to refund the charges to me and she said no because ATM deposits have to be by 4 pm to be counted on that business day.. Well no one has ever told me that before and there has been other times when I have deposited money after 4 pm and the deposit was included with the same business day. I asked to speak to her Supervisor which I was then transfered to Kristie King. She explained to me the same thing and I explained to her that I was not aware of the ATM rule. She then got an attitude with me and said no one will be able to help me and that she will not refund those fees when I asked for her manager's name and spelling she spoke to me as if I was someone who does not understand english.

I am fed up with Bank Of America and how they treat their customers... After this incident I am going to do business with another bank. I say we all come together and petition against Bank Of America...

Complaint :: I have a My Access Checking account through BOA, meaning you will be charged if you use a teller more than 1 a month. I would take that as you can trust any type of deposit to be made through an ATM.

I went to a Portalnd, OR branch on MLK and made a ATM deposit being that the drive up line was out in the street & the lobby line was out the door almost 3 weeks ago.

I happen to look at my balance on the internet last Friday, they have reversed my deposit of almost $1500.00 in cash saying the "envelope is missing" or it was empty. I have 2 witnesses that it was made.

I'm sure needless to say I talked to EVERY department that I could & the branch manager it self. Of course the branch is defending itself saying the deposits go through a courier. I am well educated with this procedure, transactions leave in a locked bag & are not unlocked till someone at the processing center unlocks it.

They said this all will be investigated, but who wants to make wagers on what the outcome will be. I STILL haven't been notified by BOA of the reverse deposit.

Needless to say at this point YES BOA HAVE THIEVES working for them & the customers that put trust in their bank institution have to suffer.

Of course I have talked to other customers of the same branch & they have also had similar situations

Complaint :: I am a full time college student working part time to pay the bills, so money is important for my future. Well I always thought the balance the bank teller tells you is correct, but come to find out it is not because it is not up to date at times. So i deposited 150.00 into my account and the banker said i was -52.00. so he then said your new balance is 97.52 so i used my card several times on small purchases like at my job for a candy bar, water, and things small. Well come to find out the balance was not 97.52 it was acutally 2.43 because the weekly charges i spent was not posted yet. so i had 13 over charge fees of 33.00 dollars and on top of that i had 5 of the 19.00 dollar over drawn fees, but what really gets me mad is that the total amount i actually spent was under 30.00 and i had over 450.00 of just over drawn fees to pay in my account all for items that cost less than 1.00. i was really upset so i went to the bank and the lady said she could only take of two 33.00, and i knew she could take of more so i called the customer service line and the lady said she could help me, but then she informed me that becasue the other hag had already made a decision on the fees she could not over ride it . i had to pay 430.00 just for fees that is 3 weeks of working for me. no i have no money for the next two weeks because of the incident and i would like to know who i can report this to or write to the president of bank of america because i am highly upset

Complaint :: I would like people to contact me about a possible class action suit, it can't be on an individual case but for the following reasons below.

From what I've read countless times in many complaints, incorrect whether deliberate or by mistake, information has caused people to lose money on have inability to access their accounts. I had that happen to me when an employee probably feeling I was not courteous enough to him deliberately and maliciously put false information on our file, making it impossible for my mother and me to access our accounts on the internet or phone and having to inconvenience ourselves to go in person to the bank. What is worse, is that although they knew the reason for us being inconvenienced, the telephone customer service agents didn't tell us that they couldn't tell us, they just lied and said that they didn't know. Officer at bank who knows and likes me, showed that the reason was clearly on the computer. Putting in false information is almost criminal and may hold the bank liable and have them lose a civil suit unlike just a bookkeeping computer error that COULD NOT hold the bank liable.

Also, when I call my other banks and credit unions or even the Bank of A myself, it is fairly easy to verify my identity, they just want my name, ss birthdate sometimes address. When my mother (and I am assisting her) calls they make it tremendously difficult, sometimes they make her read her drivers license (which I end having to do) or ask her last deposit or her CD numbers (she can't remember and answers wrong) and I often have to prompt or repeat her answers so if they think I, her daughter (who by the way has a joint account with her and they from their conversation KNOW I'm her daughter) is trying to defraud them, all this extra verification is useless.

So for reasons that bank capriciously puts in false information due to whims of customer service agent and the fact that it discriminates against the elderly by subjecting them to a harsher standard in verifying information when they call, I think there is a strong basis for a suit.

I've written to some lawyers but I know my case alone is not compelling enough for them to take it on, so I hope others will want to join.
